Halloween is finally here! We're so excited to dress Miss Libby up and take her trick-or-treating tonight! (Drew and I and her grandparents are more excited than she could ever be!) She's going to be a baby cow! She's been fighting a cold and fever all week, but thankfully, she's doing better and well enough to drop by a few parties. I'll be sure to post pictures and give a report of her adventures! Hope you have a fun, spooky and safe Halloween!
I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I am worn down from all the political yaa-yaaing. Not only am I sick of every story on the morning and evening news being about the presidential election, I'm tired of being tormented with cheesy, finger-pointing ads promoting candidates at the state and local levels, as well. The commercials are meant to sway voters, but they are so absurd that it's causing me to dislike all the candidates vying for my vote! November 4, please hurry up and get here, I'm not sure how much more I can take!

As the weather is (finally) getting cooler and the leaves begin to change, I'm reminded why I love fall so much. I'm usually sick and tired of the heat by late July and long for the cooler and non-humid days that come with the changing season. I have an even bigger appreciation for the cooler weather after a long summer of toting the extra weight of a baby, a car seat and the bagfuls of baby paraphernalia that is required to be lugged when leaving the house, even if only for a few minutes! I couldn't resist making Libby be a part of this beautiful time of year. She is posing (okay, trying locate the nearest flower to stick in her mouth) with the mums on our front sidewalk.

These pieces of candy corn look innocent enough, right? They're not! They are my down fall! This Halloween season, I've already begun my battle with them. I had a moment of weakness last week at Publix and bought a bag. When I got home and unpacked the groceries I left them on the counter. I made at least five trips back to the kitchen that night to grab a handful, bad! Then I thought, "I'll put them in a Tupperware container with a lid. It'll be harder to get to them." Yea, right! So the week goes on and I continue to be under the spell of the delicious (and very sugary) candy corn. I couldn't help myself! At the end of the week, I'd almost polished off the bag. I decided to chalk it up to "being bad" and vowed not to buy any more. My body probably couldn't handle much more sugar, anyway. Then, this weekend, when I went to pick Libby up from my parents' house, my mom said, "Your dad bought a big bag of candy corn and I know you like them, so I stuck the leftovers (what wouldn't fit in her candy jar) in the diaper bag."

Isn't refreshing how God gives us joy, even when we are in a time of sorrow? It's been a tough week for our family with the passing of Drew's grandfather, but we have so much to be thankful for right in front of our face. One of those joys is Libby and she turned six-months-old this week. I was warned how quickly time would fly once she was born and it did. She is growing and changing so much, she hardly seems like a little baby these days. She was promoted to the Babies II class at daycare, she is eating solids, grabbing EVERYTHING (and sticking it in her mouth) and she is even practicing standing, with mommy or daddy's help, of course. She's a one woman show, that's for sure! She's a hot mess and we love her so much!
It is with a heavy heart that I post this message. Drew's grandfather did not make it through the day. Unfortunately, the damage from the heart attack was much worse than the doctors initially thought. He passed away late Tuesday afternoon. Members of his family and his preacher were with him. I have to admit I'm having a hard time processing the fact that he's really gone. His health has declined in the past year, but it's still hard to imagine future holidays and family gatherings without him. It's late and it's been a long day and my emotions have been up and down throughout the day. Please continue to pray for the Parkman family as they deal with the loss of their father, grandfather and great grandfather. Most of all pray for Motsie, she was David's bride for over 55 years. I know she will miss her best friend and husband. 
BIG news people...
Many of you have probably seen The Girls Next Door. It's the reality show on E! that follows crusty, old Hugh Hefner and his 3 young, buxom, blond girlfriends. It's intriguing because the whole concept is so crazy - a wealthy man lives in a house with 3 girlfriends and they are all okay with it. Things like that just don't happen in small town America. Though I am not proud, I must admit, I watch the show and think it's quite amusing!
