Easter Week

Easter festivities have been in full effect this week. Libby participated in the Palm Sunday service.

Then the children sang on stage. I told Libby after church that she did a good job. She said, "I didn't sing the words. I only felt like doing the motions. " Uh, okay. Maybe you can actually sing next time? But I can say she gave the motions her all. :)

Libby enjoyed an egg hunt at church Saturday. And then again Wednesday and Thursday at school.

Georgia Kate likes it when Libby goes on egg hunts.

Color Me Rad

The Color Me Rad 5k was this weekend and it was AWESOME! Leading up to the race I wasn't sure what to think. I'd been training alone and though I stayed on schedule, I wasn't sure if I'd be up to par with my race mates. I was also wondering what I was getting into when my alarm went off in the wee hours Saturday morning. Getting dressed while still dark out isn't what most busy moms want to do with their day off.

We arrived to the race sight very clean and dressed very RAD!

There were thousands of runners, loud music playing and lots and lots of wild outfits. We made our way to the starting line and I was ready to go.

The 3.2 mile course was pretty easy - just a few hills and a nice, easy run. The color stations were the best part. Volunteers covered us in pink, blue, yellow and green. Body, face, hair - nothing was off limits.

This shot was taken just before the finish line. That's me sticking my arm out. Not sure what I was doing, but I was happy to see the end in sight!

We did it!

At the end of the race, they had one last color bomb. Fellow runner, Lauren, caught this picture. All that haze is from hundreds (maybe thousands) of color bombs being tossed in the air. Whoa! {Coop's face is priceless!}

Thanks, Coop, for making me commit to this race. It forced me to train and get back in shape. I certainly want to run more races. Don't know if I can top the fun of the Color Me Rad race, but I'll give it a try.

It was certainly a RAD experience!

Initial Thoughts

A few weeks ago I mentioned my affinity for all things monogrammed. Many of you have the same love for wearing your initials, too. But did you know there are rules to follow when monogramming for yourself or when giving a gift? Leave it to us southerners to have a list of rules about proper etiquette on how and where to place letters.

This article is featured in the March issue of Southern Living. Caroline McKenzie shared these Southern Charm Tips regarding monograms:

Bath Towels: First, last, middle for the user. So, yes, you may have more than one monogram in a shared bathroom.

Bedding: Traditionally the lady of the house uses her monogram: first, married and maiden, in that order. Also acceptable, using both the husband's and wife's first initials. Lady on left, gentleman on right, married in the center. (Don't worry about who sleeps on which side of the bed.)

Jewelry: Both first, middle and last and first, last, middle are acceptable combinations. Just stick to wearing only one monogrammed piece at a time.

Luggage: This is not the place for scrolling hard-to-read letters. Use either the person's last name or first, middle, last initials - both in block capital letters.

Canvas Bags: Use the single initial of your last name that way the whole family can use the tote.

Now you are armed with (probably useless) monogram knowledge. And if you're curious, all of these items would make great gifts for my home!

Oh Deere!

Hi blog readers! Have you adjusted to Daylight Savings yet? I guess I have. But I do know that with extended daylight, we seem to be more busy. Is that the case with you, too? Our calendar is filling up and we've been keeping busy every weekend.

We enjoyed the annual John Deere open house hosted by Sun South Columbus a few weekends ago. The weather was awesome and there was lots to see and do.

Libby had so much fun. She jumped, played and even got a tractor ride. Thanks, Drew and the Sun South team for a fun day. The Open House was a success!

Bad week? Good week!

I am typing this post in a mid-week haze.This past week has been exhausting. Recovering from a cold, working late, squeezing in my workouts, baby with a stomach bug, losing sleep from Daylight Savings and we're only half way through the week. Serenity now!

But it's all okay. When I start to get overwhelmed, like so many working mommas do, I remember I have some great people to lean on. My husband, my mom, my Keurig and God's favor. Because let's get real, my worst and most tiring days are still pretty darn good. I have too many good things to even pretend I have a hard life. We can pay our bills, have plenty of food to eat, my bed is warm and comfy and (this is the best part) my gorgeous children.

Look at these girls...

They are so precious. Even if the older one would rather do it her way and the baby woke me up three times last night. They are happy, healthy and mine!

Bad week? Nah, not really!

Flip for a Cure

Last weekend Libby and I were invited to take in a gymnastics meet with a group of friends and their daughters at Auburn University. Libby really got into gymnastics this summer during the Olympics It's hard not to, really. How can someone train their body to flip, fly and twirl in such a way? Impressive. Their Olympic performances inspired Libby to do no less than 30 front rolls a day this summer!

We ate a quick dinner and headed into the Auburn Arena. It was Flip for a Cure night. There was lots of pink and excitement. The girls even got their faces painted - pink hearts and tiger paws!

It was a fun night. And yes, if you must know, I cheered for Auburn. They won the meet and beat the Maryland gymnasts.

Stay With Me

Welcome to March! Lots of things running through my mind today. Here's a few of them:

The Color Me Rad race is in three weeks and I'm getting close to completing my training. Unfortunately I'm on the part of the training where you run with no breaks. Oy. But I guess I knew it was coming since I signed up to run a 5K. Here's to knocking out the last weeks of training.

warmup walk, then jog 2.5 miles (or 25 minutes).

We are and we're addicted.

Libby absolutely loves Uncle Si. My favorite character is Jase. These guys are funny. Down home, redneck and just easy to like. They aren't doing anything fancy. They raise their families in the south and are unapologetic about loving the Lord. Very likable, indeed. And did I mention funny?
