Birthday Celebrations

Libby's birthday fell on a Monday this year, so she got to stretch out her celebrations over two weekends.

Round one was a family celebration. Cake, ice cream and presents.

Round two was with a group of her friends. She told me she wanted an ice skating party this year. I was really unsure about her idea because she'd never gone ice skating before. I'm sure she envisioned she and and her friends gliding around the ice like the professionals she watched during the Winter Olympics! While I envisions kids falling and crying. But she wouldn't let it go. So, I booked a small party at the new Ice Rink in town. And guess what? The party was a big hit!

She and the girls did a great job! We had so much fun watching them (and some of the parents) scoot around the ice. We also had pizza and cake. It was a great afternoon!

Easter 2014

Here are a few pictures from our Easter Sunday. We had a full day of church, lunch with family and egg hunting. Libby, GK and their cousins had a great time playing and collecting eggs.

Bonus pics: Look at all these kids we had in the toddler room Easter morning! We got creative (so we wouldn't lose our minds) and took them for a ride around the church.

Six

She went to bed a five-year-old. She woke up ~~a little cranky~~ a six-year-old!

Not only is she pretty as can be, she's smart, is a deep thinker, has a precious personality and loves her sister.

Around Here - Spring Edition

I love spring and all the fun it brings with it. These last few weeks we've been on the go. Here's what's up with us lately:

Libby earned another glowing report card. All "M"s and perfect attendance. We celebrated with an ice cream cone for her good work. I cannot believe she's in the last nine weeks of Kindergarten. Remember me posting the cute pictures at the beginning of the school year? It went by so fast.

I ran the Color Me Rad 5K again this year. A group of friends ran this race together. We had a fun morning!

I halfheartedly trained squeezing in random runs here and there. And it turned out to be one of my fastest 5Ks and I never felt tired. Funny how that works.

After: So COLORFUL!

The following weekend Libby and I celebrated with our friend, Ms. Rebecca. She is expecting her first child in June. Rebecca is from North Carolina, but we got to know her while she was working as the Asst. Director of the daycare the girls attend. She is now teaching in local school, but I am thankful our paths crossed. She'll be moving to Ohio this summer and we wish her the best!

I took this precious picture of Georgia Kate watching Drew while he cut the grass. She waved EVERY time he made a pass in the front yard. She thought it was so great to see Dad ride by.

Spring Break

I had the blessing of getting an entire week off for spring break this year. Even though I've worked in education for the past eight years, I never had the week off. To say I was excited about getting a free week would be an understatement. I was so thankful for it!

The only problem with spring break was that my week off was different than Libby's week off. Whoops. I work in a different school system so our calendars are not identical. I was bummed for approximately 18 minutes, then it dawned on me...A WHOLE WEEK OFF WITH THE KIDS AT SCHOOL. WAHOO! Imagine what I could do - sleep, clean my house, shop ALONE, go out to eat, nap, wonder aimlessly in Target and other fun adult activities.

I gave it my best effort. My week included shopping, a pedicure, running errands and several naps.

I did make sure that I focused some of my time on the girls. I got to eat lunch with Libby at her school a couple of times. I was able to pick her up from school all week in the car rider line. And we made time for a few special outings. :)

It was pretty great!

Libby is enjoying her spring break this week. She is staying with my mom. She packed a suitcase and told me she wouldn't miss me. (true story!) So, yeah, she was excited!

She got to do all sort of special activities with Mimi and she had a few play dates with friends. She's a lucky girl to have so many people looking out for her!

We are thankful for spring breaks and are looking forward to summer vacation!
