FEELS LIKE HOME TO ME: August 2014

Tallahassee or Bust!

This summer we squeezed in a quick road trip to Tallahassee, FL. Coop and I have friends that live there and we've been threatening to make a trip for the past couple of years. This summer we made our goal a reality.

The girls and I loaded up after church that Sunday and headed to south Georgia - about a three-hour trip. We made a quick stop in Thomasville, GA to pick up Coop who'd been there for the weekend visiting family. We headed south another 30 minutes and had an easy drive into Tallahassee.

We all crashed at our friend, L.A.'s, house. She was the sweetest, most tolerant host. She and her husband, Andy, took us four in like it was no problem at all. She has two precious little girls, Mabry and Briley. We played, ate, talked and had a great time.

Sunday evening we had a lovely dinner at the "Queen's Table".

And bed time with four kids is...interesting.

The next day we met up with another friend, Jill. I got to know Jill though blogging. (Yes, you can make friends that way!) Jill and L.A. are friends so it all makes sense. We spent the morning at the pool with six kids!

After lunch and naps, the fun continued into the evening. L.A. set up baby pools, water balloon games and whipped up a make-shift water slide.

There is a golf course that backs up to the trees in the back yard. At dusk, huge sprinklers began to water the course. We decided you only live once (YOLO!) and ran and played in the sprinklers. The little girls (okay, the adult girls,too) had a great time running wild!

All that fun wore this girl out!

Thank you, L.A. and Jill, for an entertaining couple of days. It was fun to visit and catch up.

Road to trip to Alabama is in order for next summer. :)

Fits Right Here

The last several posts have been recaps of summer happenings. I still have more to share, but this posts will cover some of the fun things we did that doesn't really have a place of its own. So I say...it Fits Right Here.

Drew and I traveled with our friends, Beth and Gabe, to Wilsonville, AL for a wedding. It was an outdoor event and it was HOT! But we made the best of it and enjoyed a night with friends and dancing to Trotline Band.

We also made a late night stop at Waffle House. No kids = no curfew!

Every morning during our summer break I got to snuggle with my babies. There's not much to say except I knew these moments were precious and fleeting. So I soaked in every minute I could.

Libby assisted me in compiling our summer bucket list. For the record, we were able to check off seven boxes.

We dropped by Gordy Eye Care's Open House to celebrate the opening of their new location. Our friends, Griff and Jennifer, have had much success with their practice and we are proud of them.

The girls enjoyed a visit to the ice cream truck and jumping in the bouncy house.

Drew's friend and co-worker, Seth, got married this summer. We loaded up the whole family and traveled to LaGrange, GA for the outdoor wedding.

The ceremony was in a clearing in the woods and the reception in an open field. It was perfect for the girls. They ran, played, gobbled cup cakes and could be as loud as they wanted.

It was a fun night. Congratulations to Seth and Emily!

In late June my friends and I attended the Friends of Mary Jane Riley Bunco Bash. It was a charity event to raise money for a local organization and honor Ms. Mary Jane's memory.

I (somehow?) ended up in the top four (out of almost 200 players) at the end of the night. We were all so excited! I won an awesome movie prize pack with LOTS of free tickets to the movies, candy and refillable popcorn tub.

A few weeks later Demetri invited several of us over for a Taco & Margarita night. Good times!

And this was a sweet moment with my big girl, Libby. She and I enjoyed spending the day together and going to the movies. She loved having me all to herself and I enjoyed it just as much!

Baby Boom

What a summer for babies! Between friends and family we welcomed THREE brand new baby girls this summer!

My friend and former co-worker, Kelly, kicked off the party by welcoming Miss Peyton Rae in late June.

Libby and I went to meet her and loved holding her.

Next to be born was my niece (Drew's sister Angie, is her mom) and the fourth girl cousin on the Parkman side, Camden Leigh. Georgia Kate was excited to meet her. She even asked to hold her. Umm...no way!

And rounding out the summer was Hunter Elizabeth - Liza - who was born to our neighbor and former student of mine, Megan. Our friends Allie and Beth joined us on our visit to meet baby Liza.

We had fun welcoming her into the "Elizabeth Club". Every one of us - Me, Beth H., Allie and Libby share Elizabeth as a first or middle name. We think it's a great name!
